Plagiarism is the taking of someone else’s work and trying to pass it off as your own. Plagiarism can be both intentional and/or unintentional, and it’s even possible to plagiarize yourself. There are many ways that we can avoid plagiarizing someone’s work, some of which we can find in the Brief McGraw-Hill Handbook, this book provides some pointers to help you avoid plagiarism in your work. Citing is one of the best ways to avoid plagiarism, because when you cite, you are giving the author the credit they deserve. Plagiarism has serious consequences, because it is not only morally wrong, but also ethically bad too. There are some major consequences in regards to plagiarism, which is why it is important to actually do your own work and not take credit for someone else’s work. College is about learning and when you procrastinate too long and just copy and paste the assignment, you don’t learn anything.
